I guess when all you have is a hammer, everything is a nail. High sensitivity couldn’t possibly be caused by PANDAS, processing disorders, pyrole disorders, Wilson’s disease, dysautonomia, bipolar, ME/CFS, autoimmune disease, malnutrition… I could go on… (sarcasm)
Look, neurotransmitters get weird and create high sensitivity, low threshold, and anxiety in people for lots of reasons, not just autism. And when the brain is not working properly—for whatever reason— it starts to break down and malfunction in similar and predictable ways. This is why there are so many comorbidities and overlapping symptoms across mental health diagnoses, even when their etiology is different.
So for YOU, HSP might really be autism, but that doesn’t make it true across the board, and any responsible clinician would not take this idea seriously.
