We’re not better than this. This country was founded on prejudice, separatism, colonialism and oligarchy. We’ve always had an anti-education streak. The Civil War never really ended; it just became a Cold War that has escalated quietly all these decades. Nothing has changed. Our chickens have merely come home to roost.
