You have a lot of criticism for a philosophy you don’t actually understand at all. FEMINISM HAS NEVER TRIED TO MAKE WOMEN EQUAL TO OR THE SAME AS MEN. To argue this is a STRAW MAN. But maybe you’re just being naive, not cagey.

Rather, feminism has advocated for women to have equal RIGHTS, equal PROTECTIONS, and equal OPPORTUNITY as men to live their lives according to their own desires. Women do not have full autonomy and ability to self-actualize if they can’t, say, be taken seriously about their medical needs, or if they can’t get hired or promoted fairly, or if they fear being raped in their car.

And for the record, there are a TON of women who don’t identify as soft or feminine. Or even as heterosexual. Many of us really don’t want kids. The Childfree Movement isn’t made of women just giving up. Likewise, I know of many men who love being stay at home dads while their wife is the breadwinner.

Feminism fights for all of us to be free of gender roles entirely, or to cling tightly to them, HOWEVER WE CHOOSE. We are not animals who are slaves to procreative impulses, at risk of dying out if someone doesn’t fall in line and have babies. If half of us don’t want to have kids, the species will be fine.

You want to be a traditional wife and mom, great! Quit making proclamations about (your very inaccurate and limited understanding of) what feminism is and isn’t, because you wouldn’t even have the experience of having a good job, or of being taken seriously as a writer, or of opting out of the rat race, were it not for freedom of CHOICE that feminism gave you.
